Going to work out at the gym is part of my everyday routine! Because of this, it’s important that I have a gym bag full of everything I need before, during, and after. I’m going to share some of my favorite things to keep stashed in my bag, and I’d love to hear your essentials as well! My absolute favorite thing to have at the gym are my wireless Powerbeats headphones. Listening to some good music really energizes me to push through my workout.

The Bag Itself
Whether it’s going to and from your local gym at home or to the rec center on campus, you need a bag to carry all of your gear. I got this lululemon one for Christmas a few years ago and absolutely adore it. They don’t sell this exact same one any more, but here are two options that I would recommend!
These bags are great because they have multiple pockets to organize everything you need to carry. I specifically like the side pocket for storing wet swimsuits or sweaty workout clothes. This is where I keep my swim stuff when I’m running to and from practice!
All About the Shoes
When you’re going to work out, having shoes for the activity you plan on doing is essential. Personally, I bring my running shoes and also my bike shoes in case I want to spin. Finding the right pair of running shoes will help avoid any potential injuries! You don’t necessarily need bike shoes to spin, but I really like being able to clip them into the bike.
Keeping your hair out of your face is so important when getting sweaty at the gym! I always keep a pack of hair ties and a good brush with me. Forgetting either of these things is the worst, so it’s better off just to store extras in your gym bag.
After I finish up at the gym I will either shower there or when I get back to my apartment. Either way, you will be wanting deodorant. Much easier just having it right with you in your gym bag than having to wait until you get back! Something I recently discovered is the CliniqueFIT Post-Workout Mattifying Moisturizer. When my days get busy, I occasionally will run to the gym in between classes. Putting this on my face afterwards helps my skin not look as shiny (like I didn’t just sweat a bunch!). It’s also great to use after swim practice because my skin always gets a little dry from the chlorine in the water.
It’s always helpful to plan out everything you need to bring with you before heading out to the gym! Is there anything else you can’t leave for the gym without?
